SUPER VISAS
WHAT IS A SUPER VISA?

Under the current system, an individual may visit for up to six months when they first enter Canada. However, eligible visitors (parents and grandparents) who wish to stay longer, up to two years without the need to renew their status, may apply for an extension.

The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The Super Visa allows an individual to stay for up to two years upon initial entry into Canada. The 10-year multiple entry visa only has a status period for each entry of six months only.

The Super Visa is a great way to bring Parents and Grandparents to Canada and an ideal option for Canadian Citizens and Canadian Permanent Residents who are waiting to sponsor their parents for Permanent Residency, or who currently do not qualify for Parental Permanent Residency sponsorship.

To apply, the parent or grandparent must:
-
provide a letter promising financial support from their child or grandchild in Canada who has a minimum income
-
prove he or she has Canadian medical insurance for at least one year to cover the time he or she will be in Canada
-
complete an immigration medical examination.
